| | Fuses and relays | General information about fuses The car's +12 V current is fed to the various consumers via three fuse boxes: | • | one inside the end of the dashboard by the driver's door | • | one in the engine bay by the far left of the bulkhead partition below the windscreen | • | one Maxi fuse box in the engine bay behind the battery Most fuses and relays are in the main fuse box. Most fuses are blade type and, compared with older types of fuse, are subject to lower voltage drops together with the connecting sleeves. They are also resistant to corrosion. Blade fuse colour coding: | Fuse | Colour | 5A | Light brown | 7.5A | Dark brown | 10A | Red | 15A | Blue | 20A | Yellow | 25A | Clear | 30A | Green | 40A | Orange | | Fuse of maxi size | 30A | Green (Maxi) | 40A | Orange (Maxi) | 60A | Blue (Maxi) | Checking blade fuses Each blade fuse has test sockets which can be used to check whether it is intact without having to remove it. If both sockets are live, the fuse is intact. On a fuse that has been removed, it is possible to see whether it has blown or not. | Relays The relays are located in | • | the dashboard relay board by the steering column | • | the engine bay main fuse box by the far left of the bulkhead below the windscreen | • | in the electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats (relays 446D and 446P respectively)
