Engine coolant temperature sensor shorted to batt+
Fault symptom
The temperature sensor always indicates a cold engine.
Conditions
B1422:
The PWM output for controlling the engine temperature gauge in main instrument display panel 1 is short-circuited to BATT+
Diagnostic procedure

Check that no diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the main instrument display panel. If trouble code are present, see Service Manual 3:5 "Electrical system, Main instrument display panel".

Connect a BOB and check the wiring for a short circuit to (+) between:

ICE module connector pin 61 and pin 4 of the main instrument display panel 1 connector.

ICE module connector pin 14 and pin 7 of the main instrument display panel 2 connector.

Clear the diagnostic trouble code, start the engine and check that the trouble code is not generated afresh.
