Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the normal operation of the direction indicators
Switch on the hazard flashers.
Is the function correct?
|
yes
Continue with point 2.
|
no
Continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:5 "Electrical system, ICE". See also fault diagnosis for diagnostic trouble code B1432, B1433 or B1442 and also checking of direction indicators and hazard flashers.
2 Check the operation of the direction indicators, using an ISAT scan tool.
| - |
Connect the ISAT scan tool.
| - |
Select "ACTIVATE".
| - |
Select "FLASHERS".
| - |
Select "ON".
The direction indicators should remain on continuously.
Is the function correct?
|
yes
The fault is of intermittent nature, proceed to point 4.
|
no
Continue with point 3.
3 Check the wiring
Remove the alarm control module. Conduct a continuity test between:
| - |
control module pin 24 and connector, left-hand side direction indicators.
| - |
control module pin 12 and connector, right-hand side direction indicators
| - |
pins 24 and 12 of the electronic control module and a good grounding point.
The resistance should be < 1 ohm.
Is the resistance correct?
|
yes
Continue with point 4.
|
no
Repair or replace the wiring harness.
4 Final check
Check to see if the fault symptom remains.
Is the problem still present?
|
