Improve Saabiste: How to Use the 'Report' Button Effectively

Preserving Saab vehicles is a collective effort. A simple system has been implemented to allow every user to contribute to the improvement of the platform.

Technical expertise is not required. Whether it is a spelling error, a broken image, or an incorrect part reference, the "Report" button acts as a virtual tool for reporting issues.

Location and Purpose of the Report Button

On most pages, a dark blue or grey rectangular button labeled "Report" with a warning icon is located on the right edge of the screen.

Clicking this button opens a context-aware window with five specific reporting modes:

    1. Parts Catalog (EPC): For Part Errors

If an error is identified in the exploded view diagrams, this window allows users to specify the exact reference number on the drawing. The system validates the existence of the number to prevent input errors.

    2. Workshop Manual (WIS): For Repair Guides

When a procedure, torque specification, or image is unclear or missing, this feature automatically captures the specific document or diagnostic code (DTC) being viewed, eliminating the need to provide page URLs.

    3. Diagnostic Tool (OBD): For Connection Issues

If a connection with a VCI device or cable fails, this window detects the vehicle model and cable type. It also allows for the attachment of "log files" to facilitate the analysis of electrical or software communication errors.

    4. Personal Garage: For User Space Issues

This option allows users to categorize specific problems within their personal garage, such as vehicle management, parts wishlists, or diagnostic reports, ensuring efficient technical support.

    5. Blog and Articles: For News and Updates

This mode links feedback directly to the relevant article, allowing for rapid correction of typos, bugs, or inappropriate comments.

How to Submit a Report in Three Steps

    1. Click the "Report" button on the right side of the screen.

    2. Follow the prompts: Select the category (Bug, Data Error, or Suggestion), enter the details, and optionally provide an email address for status updates.

    3. Slide to verify: Drag the horizontal slider from left to right to verify human input, then click "Send."

    Post-Submission Process

Once a report is submitted, it is processed as follows:

    • Public Roadmap: Accepted reports are listed on the status tracking pages, indicating whether a ticket is "In Progress" or "Resolved."

    • Email Notifications: Users who provided an email address will receive a notification once the issue has been addressed.

Active participation through this reporting system ensures that Saabiste remains a reliable and efficient resource for the community.
