A Passionately Tuned Saab 9-3

This 2002 Saab 9-3 Aero Coupé is built as a true road and track car, fully legal and street-registered.

The engine is a completely rebuilt 2.0L T5/T7 hybrid, based on a B204E block. It includes ACL Race bearings, ARP studs, a T7 MLS head gasket, 1.1 mm machined T5 pistons, balanced pistons and rods, balance shaft removal, and original Saab timing components.

Turbo and Fuel System

The turbo setup features a Pulsar 2867R Gen2 with T51R mod, ETS intercooler, Forge blow-off valve, 73 mm boost pipes, 3-inch downpipe, and complete JT 3-inch exhaust. The fuel system consists of 1500 cc Bosch Motorsport EV14 injectors and an AEM 340 LPH fuel pump, running on E85 and tuned by Nordic Tuning to produce 500 hp and 643 Nm of torque.

Transmission

The transmission includes a reinforced 6-speed H-pattern manual gearbox with Quaife straight-cut gearset and differential. The clutch is a 4-paddle rigid sintered disc with Sachs Performance mechanism.

Chassis and Suspension

The chassis features Öhlins coilovers, polyurethane suspension bushings, Speedparts rack brace, and about -3° front camber. For track use, OZ Ultraleggera 18x8J ET34 wheels are fitted with Nankang AR-1 semi-slicks in 225/40 R18.

Braking System

Braking is provided by Porsche 996 GT3 4-piston front calipers with 345 x 30 mm EBC grooved and drilled discs, and EBC RP1 pads. Goodridge braided brake lines and Motul RBF660 fluid are used. Rear brakes are from a Saab 9-5 Aero with 300 mm ventilated discs.

Additional Modifications

Additional modifications include a carbon fiber hood, a stripped interior, and air conditioning removal, reducing the car's weight to approximately 1,260 kg.

The result is a 500 hp and 643 Nm Saab, running on E85, with a 6-speed straight-cut gearbox, designed to be raw, efficient, and extremely performant both on road and track, while remaining fully street-legal.
