Introduction to SPS Archive
An easy-to-use solution to help you with the software maintenance of your Saab. SPS Archive is designed to simplify access to and use of ECU calibration files, freeing users from the technical constraints imposed by "abandonware" like GlobalTIS or TIS2000.
Role of Saab Diagnostic Tools
Traditionally, the Saab Globaltis ecosystem relies on three pillars:
Updating the Tech2 PCMCIA card.
Managing Security Access for models like the well-known Saab 9-3 NG.
Flashing ECUs via the Service Programming System (SPS).
SPS Archive focuses exclusively on the third point, offering a more direct alternative to the complex methods of GlobalTIS, often limited by strict software compatibility checks.
Content and Operation of SPS Archive
SPS Archive centralizes all calibration files from the 2011 GlobalTIS Saab version. Contrary to popular belief, an engine map is not a single file. The GM/Saab system fragments the data into several calibration files and an instruction file (the "flashing script").
Methods of Use
Two approaches are identified for handling these data:
Firmware Builder: Allows combining ("stack") or splitting ("unstack") calibration files. This method is mainly intended for calculating checksums necessary for flashing integrity, as it can easily create a file recognized in Winols, for example (useful for checksums). An article will be dedicated to this.
DPS Archives: This is the recommended method. Downloading a DPS archive (.zip) provides all the elements required for direct and the most reliable ECU flashing!

In practice, the procedure is as follows:
- Identify the correct software version to use
- Download the .zip archive from SPS Archive
- Copy the archive to C:\DPSArch and program it
Future Perspectives
The long-term goal is to enable simplified programming via direct execution of diagnostics and flashing from the site. The development of "live diagnostic" features is currently underway, but it is a separate and dense subject that could be discussed soon.
